Peyton Paige : 6 Months

Happy 1/2 Birthday to this sweet girl!  How did she get to be so big?!?  She is getting more and more fun the older she gets and we fall more and more in love with her everyday!

Weight : 16 lbs 12 oz
Height : 26 inches
Clothes : 6 month & 6-12 month
Diapers : Size 2

This little one got her first bottom two teeth last month!  We thought we had pretty much figured out what this one likes and doesn't like but that all went out the window with teething!  But we got through it!  2 down, a lot to go!  She is in to everything and she does not like to hold still!  She loves to touch and feel everything!  My favorite is how she loves to touch your face and she loves to put her forehead up against your forehead.  It is the cutest.  We started her on some solid foods.  She absolutely loves her cereal, pears, applesauce, and strawberries but was not a fan of the bananas!  We gave her some squash for the first time the other night and she shuddered a few times but got through it. . .I would shudder too.  She loves to jabber and squeal and is very surprised by loud noises.  She loves little kids and could easily be entertained for hours on end whenever they are around.  She loves to read stories and loves when we sing songs.  Her favorite is the Itsy Bitsy Spider.  She goes crazy!  She is still so good to us in the sleeping department except for when those teeth are coming in.  We feel so blessed to have such a happy and healthy baby and we are so glad she chose us to be her parents!  We love you Peyt!

Peyton Paige : 4 Months

I can't believe my baby girl is 4 months old!  She just keeps getting more and more fun the older she gets but I still want her to stay my little baby!

Weight : 14 lbs 12 oz
Height : 25 inches
Clothes : 3-6 months & 6 month
Diapers : Size 1

This girl has been given the nickname Nosy Rosie!  She loves to people watch just like her mama!  When she is out in public there is no chance at getting her to eat!  She has to be sitting up and looking around at everything going on.  She loves to go to her uncle Keaton's basketball games and loves to watch the boys go up and down the court.  She loves full on attention!  So when she is awake it is all eyes on her.  She hates if she is sitting/laying back even the slightest bit.  She has to be upright all the time.  She loves you to talk to her and she loves to sit and jabber at you.  She has become a big fan of her bumbo and is starting to love books and toys.  She constantly has her fingers in her mouth and is a huge fan of her binky.  She now recognizes voices and whenever Dave and I walk in the room she immediately looks around until she finds us.  This girl loves her sleep and sleeps on average about 12 hours a night!  We feel very lucky and are very afraid of future children having horrible sleeping patterns.  She has made it easy on us.  She loves to be swaddled in her blanket at night and whenever we put her in her crib for bed she starts giggling like crazy.  It is the funniest thing.  She loves her swing and is happy in the car as long as we are moving!  She has been so much fun and has brought so much happiness in to our lives!  We cannot imagine life without her!  We love you so much Peyt!

Hospital Days & A Name

I delivered at St. Marks Hospital and although it was quite the drive (passing 5 hospitals on our way there) they were so good to us!  We rather enjoyed our stay at the hospital.  It was like a little vacation before real life settles in.  We were able to just enjoy our baby girl.  And we loved all of the visitors!  We were there from Wednesday night until Saturday afternoon.

The nurses kept coming by to ask for our paperwork with her name everyday we were there.  We struggled with choosing a name for this little girl.  My friend Danielle gave us the idea to put the two names in a hat that we were deciding between.  Then she told us to ask ourselves what name we would be disappointed by if we pulled it out.  Late Friday night, after all the visitors had left, we decided on Peyton Paige.  We were able to turn in our paperwork just before we left on Saturday.  Now I can't imagine her name being anything else.  It fits her so perfectly.  Peyton wasn't even on the list until a couple weeks before the hospital.  And Paige was always going to be her middle name.  At one point we even thought about using is for her first name.  Paige is my sister Kaela's middle name.  I want my kids to have middle names and I want them to have meaning to them.  I couldn't think of a better person for little miss to be named after.

Peyton Paige : A Birth Story

Peyton,

You were born on August 8, 2013.  Your due date was August 10, 2013, which is your cousin Mason's birthday, and it was important to me that you had your own birthday!  For weeks I thought how perfect a day 8.8.2013 would be for a birthday!  The day before I had my usual weekly doctor's appointment and Dr. Faircloth decided that since I had been 80% effaced for weeks and not dilating that I could have the option to be induced.  She called St. Marks hospital and scheduled for us to go in that night and get started on a low dose of pitocin.  She told us she would be in in the morning to break my water.  We were so excited!  It seemed like for the first time it was real!  We called our family and told them the exciting news then stopped at grandma and grandpa Baucom's so that dad and grandpa Bill could give mom a blessing.  I remember being so nervous to give birth, but after I received a priesthood blessing I was so calm about it.  I knew that I was going to be just fine and that you would get here safe and sound.  We left for the hospital around 9:00 that night.  That night was long and uneventful.  The next day we waited for our doctor to come break my water.  We waited and waited and waited.  Finally our nurse was able to find out that our doctor had delivered some babies that morning that were not doing well so she wouldn't be able to come for a while.  We decided to just have the on call doctor break my water to get things started and boy did they start!  It seemed like the contractions started immediately after my water was broke!  I asked for an epidural VERY quickly and the rest was all down hill!  At around 3:30 PM that day I was finally fully effaced and dilated and it was time to start pushing!  We said goodbye to our family and started some practice pushing with the nurses.  You were coming so fast that the nurses said no more pushing until the doctor got there!  You were born at 4:29 PM after 45 minutes of pushing.  You came out with your little hand up by your face and a full head of dark hair.  They laid you on my chest and your dad and I started crying.  You were so perfect and we loved you instantly.  You weighed 8 lbs 8 oz and were 19 inches long.

Right before we left for the hospital.  Last picture pregnant!

This picture was taken AFTER the epidural.  Best thing ever!
And then we waited . . .
And waited. . .
And waited. . .

8 lbs 8 oz . . .this was a BIG surprise!  The doctor kept telling me you would be around 7lbs.  She wasn't quite sure where you were hiding!

First picture as a family of 3!

That night your dad was able to give you a bath.  You hated all of it except for when your hair was being washed.  You loved that part!

We are so glad you made it here safe and sound.  We love you more than we ever thought possible baby girl.

Life Lately

. . .or life the last few months!  We have been busy enjoying this stage in our lives and we are loving every second of it!  We have been so extremely blessed over the last few months and been having the time of our lives!  Here is a little bit of what we have been up to. . .

In March we were able to go on a cruise to the Caribbean with Curt and Cassie!  We have been trying to plan a trip with them so we had to make sure to fit it in before baby girl comes!  It was such a relaxing trip with such fun people!  We agreed that it definitely needs to happen more often!  This trip deserves a blog of its own so more to come . . .

The Monday after we got back we had our ultrasound!  My mom was able to come with us to hear the exciting news!  We gave everybody else a scratch card for our gender reveal!  I thought all along that we were having a little boy!  So much for a mothers intuition!  Dave thought it was a little girl and he was right!  She was being very shy and it took the ultrasound tech what seemed like forever to tell us what Baby V would be but luckily we were able to find out!  Definitely one of the happiest days of our lives.  Everything else looked and measured perfectly!  We were so grateful to see a healthy baby!  I just can't stop thinking of how fun it is going to be to watch Dave with her.  She will definitely have Dave wrapped around her finger!

In April we celebrated Dave's 26th birthday!  We did a whole lot of nothing on his actual birthday because he had his CFI test the next day. . .but we did manage to celebrate later in the week!  So thankful for this guy and love any reason to celebrate him!

The next day Dave took his Certified Flight Instructor test and he PASSED!  This is a huge test that covers pretty much anything and everything he has ever been taught throughout his aviation schooling.  A lot of times pilots get their CFI so that they can instruct aviation students for a living while building flight time for their commercial career.  Getting paid to fly vs. what we've been doing the past few years, paying to fly. . .sign us up!  It was such a huge accomplishment and I could not be more proud of him!  For those who read our blog you know that the aviation world has a way of not going as planned.  We needed several things to fall into place for this test to take place.  We were very humbled and very grateful that everything was able to work out!  We felt extremely blessed and so thankful that Dave was able to pass on his first try!

At the beginning of April we bought a house!!  We had been looking at houses since February and knew we wanted to be somewhere in the south end of the valley.  It seemed like we would find something, put an offer on it and be up against 10 other people.  Needless to say we never were able to get what we thought we wanted.  Our Realtor suggested looking at town homes and in the beginning we weren't to fond of the idea.  We decided to look at them so we didn't get discouraged and it ended up being the best thing!  It helped us realize how perfect it would be these next few years while Dave is busy time building and instructing.  We were able to find a lot in Herriman and able to make all the selections for our home.  We drive out to look at it every few days and cannot believe how fast it is coming along!  We know buying a home wouldn't even be possible if we hadn't been able to live in my grandparents basement the last year and a half to save.  We are so thankful we were able to do so and so excited to have a place of our own to bring home baby girl to!

Speaking of baby girl. . .she is growing like a weed!  And therefore so am I!  I honestly wonder how she will fit inside me in the end and then people tell me I am small for when I am due!  The summer heat may kill me and my feet may look like marshmallows but it is all going to be worth it!  We just think she has the cutest little profile!  We cannot wait to meet her!  So far everything is looking great and the doctor said I am right where I should be.  Only 14 more weeks!

Also, baby girl is already spoiled!  Grandma Jules has made sure of this!  She is going to be the best dressed baby out there!  At least for the first three months of her life!

Love Day

I LOVE Valentine's Day!  Give me any excuse to decorate, celebrate or go all out and I am all for it!  It doesn't hurt that there always seems to be flowers and chocolate strawberries involved either! :)  In honor of the special day here are just a few things that I love. . .
And I am so glad that this guy is my valentine forever!  Gosh I love him!
And little baby peanut too. . .who is not so little anymore!
